Product Details

Attention grabbing are two words that best describe Coal Pit Pinot Noir. It’s a wine with a big personality and aromatics which instantly captivate you. The palate displays excellent fruit-driven vibrancy, complemented by well integrated spicy oak for a memorable finish. This world class pinot noir wowed our judging panel no end.

From the family owned Coal Pit winery in Central Otago, New Zealand comes our Best Premium Red. Meticulously crafted by winemaker Lynn Horton and viticulturist Gary Crabbe using world class fruit from their sustainably accredited vineyard. The winery only produce small volumes annually choosing to focus efforts ensuring no compromises are made to wine quality. Lynn and Gary work hard to manage the challenges of growing in the highest sub-region of Central Otago, creating a wine that shines from the fruit itself and is given just the right amount of oak. A world class pinot noir and one we’re lucky to have on our shelves.

Cracking Central Otago Pinot Noir! No wishy-washy flavours in the bottle! Vibrant ripe fruit, good spice, beautiful aromatic nose and a great finish - this wine has it all. More awards on the horizon for sure!!

Central Otago Pinot of this quality usually comes at a much higher price! Fresh and more fruit driven than savoury, you get delightful red cherry and cranberry upfront with some subtle spice and tannin to finish. Beautiful wine.

Bought this wine as it won an award in 2018. I was blown away by the complexity and ease that it had. It has big flavours that makes you think you are drinking something way more expensive! Can see why it won the award.

One of my favourite Pinot's, very smooth taste and a nice level of spice.

I cannot recommend this wine more highly. I could have been drinking a $200 bottle of Burgundy - in-fact I thought I was. Such complexity and a great balance between savoury and bright fruit forward notes. Drink now or lay down for a few years.. my hot tip.
