Product Details

Giesen Brothers Theo, Alex and Marcel created this limited release wine to further dispel the myth that Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is a one trick pony, they want to show it makes complex, multi-dimensional wines.

This wine is made from a special selection of barrels from two of Giesens premium Sauvignon Blanc vineyards - Matthews Lane and Dillons Point with a greater proportion from Dillons Point. The nose is a complex blend of herbal, nettle and ripe gooseberry with complexing perfumed tropical floral notes and a dry spice oak influence. An elegant structure on entry carries and drives the wine, complemented by soft oak, creamy citrus fruit and warm dry herbs on a textural multi-layered mid-palate with a delicious full bodied and lingering finish.

Good for the chardonnay drinkers who want something a little fruitier than normal, or for the sauvignon blanc drinkers who want to begin dabbling in other varieties. The oak barrel aging process imparts a creamy taste and texture which isn't often found in this variety, but doesn't depart too far from the normal and beloved fruity style of the grape. If you're trying to buy a white for someone but not exactly sure what they like, this would be a good candidate as it covers a number of bases so it can appeal to a majority of drinkers.
